The ink and henna tattoo is getting precious metal makeover in the Emirates from a renowned Japanese jewellery designer Nobuhiko Akatsuka.
Nobuhiko created Precious Skin, the world's first "body direct" jewellery, which is made of 99% pure gold and platinum foil that is set on bare skin. The ingot of gold is melted and laminated step by step from three centimetres to one-tenth of a millimetre thickness. The design is then stamped on to the foil and any extra scraps to obtain the final design are manually removed. Application takes around 10 minutes.
Starting at Dhs200 for a small gold tattoo and Dhs400 for an equivalent platinum one.
Location - Burj Al Arab and Westin Hotel.
